Introducing, Color Me Glad, an interactive
photographic portraiture process
created
by Californian-born contemporary artist and photographer, Ithaka Darin Pappas.
Says,

yet individualistic way to encapsulate
the human spirit thru photography
in a manner that wasn't merely a click
of the button and an applied filter…
and I think I have Finally found it.
These resulting mixed-media works are not mine alone,
they are collaborative art pieces created by the subjects and myself.
It's very
interesting and inspiring to see how someone interprets themselves
thru the
therapeutic process of simple coloring.
From the initial photography session
thru to the final detailing, this passage brings out
the real artist in everybody involved."
How it works:
First,
approximately ten mono-chromatic photographs
will be taken of you, your child
or loved one.
After One is approved by all parties as the session favorite
(for
expression and general feeling)
it
is converted into a line image -
similar to those used in children's coloring books.
The image is then printed onto book-stock paper at either

x 10" OR 11" x 17" (20cm x 25cm OR 28cm x 43cm).
The
subject is now invited to decorate their portrait
with
crayons or pencils in any way they see fit.
Small personal-related objects of interest can also be adhered with glue,

become part of the overall texture and composition.
After
the un-glazed picture has been approved by the creator (and/or the creator's
parents)
it
is applied to a wooden surface and coated in thick high-gloss epoxy
mixed
with iridescent particles, for sparkle.
The
final result (available for pick-up or shipping a few days later)
Is a dazzling and colorful, truly unique
original work of art that the subjects themselves
have had a huge hand in
creating.
